Playlist stops after each episode is played

$

Hi,

I use Podkicker Pro on my Toshiba AT200 tablet (Android 4.0.3).
My problem is that I would like the playlist to play continuously. Instead, I have to press play after each episode is done playing.

I also use PK Pro on my smartphone with the same podcasts (Android 4.1.2). The playlist works just fine. No stop after an episode.

What should I do to fix the issue on my tablet ?

Thank you

"Forbidden" message when trying to download.

Hi,

Lately I have been getting a "forbidden" message when Podkicker Pro tries to download some of my subscribed podcasts. I have never seen this message before but it is very annoying since I am not able to download the episode at all. I have to delete it if it's partially downloaded, or ignore it since Podkicker keeps trying to download it. What does this error message mean and what is forbidding the download? Podkicker Pro irself, my ISP, my phone or something else?

headset button doesn't control podkicker pro

Hi all, I used Podkicker for a long time before purchasing Podkicker Pro, and I'm having a big problem with Podkicker Pro: unlike the original, it does not respond to my headset button presses.  When I press the button during Podkicker Pro playback, it starts playback from another audio app (usually the last one I had open before Podkicker Pro).  This happens even if Podkicker Pro is the active app (i.e., it's shown on my display and not running in the background).  Original Podkicker didn't have this problem.

I haven't been able to address it, and it means that I have to look at the display to start or stop playback (which is awkward if I'm doing something else at the time), so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Bug(?): Headset button triggers play even when playlist is empty

Pressing the headset button while the playlist is empty causes PodKicker Pro to start playing the latest available podcast.

I'm not sure if this is intended behaviour. My problem, however, is this:
If the latest podcast is not already downloaded, PodKicker will start streaming the podcast, quickly grabbing tens of megabytes of data.
For anyone with a constrained/costly data plan this can be a problem.

To reproduce:
1. Empty playlist
2. Delete downloaded podcasts
3. Make sure nothing else is playing or capturing the headset button
4. Press button on connected headset

Expected behaviour: Do nothing

Current behaviour: Plays latest available podcast

(I'm aware that I can block PodKicker from using cell data at all, but I find this umpractical in some other situations.)

Feature request: Add single episode by URL

Hello,
Often times I come across a single episode of a podcast I don't want to subscribe to, audio files that aren't part of a podcast, etc. I'd love to listen to these files in podkicker, but see now way to add them. Is there a way to do this that I'm missing?
Thanks,
Adam

Please implement full backup capabilities so that categories and individual settings can be restored not only the podcasts themselves. I am about to switch phone and dread having to spend an hour setting up all my podcasts in Podkicker Pro again. Last time I got a new phone I ended up on Stitcher for a while because I didn't have time to restore Podkicker Pro.

Bluetooth headset button behavior changed after the update

I recently had podkicker pro updated from version 1.5.7 to 1.9.1 Most of the new changes were improvements in my view except one. I always listen to my podcasts using a Sony SBH20 bluetooth headset with 3 controls, one of them being play/pause. The other two are fast forward / skip track forward and fast reverse / skip track reverse. The behavior of these buttons have changed undesirably after the update.  Previously pressing the fast forward button would advance the podcast by 20 seconds but now it skips to the next podcast in the playlist. I don't want this behavior.  How can I restore "advance 20 seconds by pressing fast forward / skip track button" functionality.  I am using a Nexus 4 updated to 4.3

Thanks.

Queue missing from recent update

I've just been upgraded to the most recent version, and the podcast queue has gone.  Has this feature been removed, or is it now hidden somewhere else?

Single episodes play, but playback stops at the end of each podcast.  This has broken the apps primary purpose of playing podcasts while I drive!

A fix or workaround for this is needed asap, as without it the app has been rendered useless.

New Version only for Android 4.x?

Hi all,

I updated Podkicker Pro via Play Store on my Nexus 7 2013. Works well.

But on my Motorola Defy+ with 2.3.6 I don't get an update.

Is the new Version (1.9.1 if I remember right) only for 4.x. The Play Store says "compatible with all you devices".

Thanks in Advance

Greetings

Sebastian

Podkicker used to be amazing, intuitive, ready to use on a daily basis, but this latest update has broken many oftheeasy features, it seems the developer is this application as a personal toycontrolsdetermined to alienate podkicker fans just showing off his programming skills that simply aren't necessary, if something isn't broken there no need to change it, podkicker was literally the best most intuitive android so I have ever come across, but this latest version has killed it for me.
Please is it possible for you to send me the previous version before all of these dramatic nonsensical changes i.e. version 1.5.7, so I can install that which worked flawlessly, and is there a way to stop reviewing further updates?
List of things messed up on new version.
1, critical playlist page now reduced to an add on in settings.
2, completed downloads no longer automatically go into playlist but require seeking out individually and clicked on individually to put them into the playlist!
3, finding latest downloads is very hard because they are now at the bottom of the page, you need to scroll down to find them! Not at the top.
4, you no longer can see downloads in progress for the reason above, you need to go scrolling to find them!
5, the play controls at the bottom of the screen are smaller than before.
6, the play control button jumps from being in the centre, to being on the right for some strange reason.
7, in the playlist, it's hard to find anything because some downloads are greyed out, some are bright bright white, and the playing podcast is bright orange! You need extra time starting looking closer to see what's what.
8, the episodes colours have also changed, light blue, bright blue, white, greyed out,I mean reallyit's getting silly now!
9, whats very important, the pull up play controls, the play button has now moved, so you no longer intuitively press play, as you change the position of the podcast, super anoying and makes those controls now redundant.
10, and dont get me started on the notification controls on an s3, they have been broken,im sure you hear enough about that from other people .
Please just can i have the previous version which was perfect, simple, intuitive, easy, thanks.

Feature Request: playlist by tag

Using Podkicker Pro 1.9.1

Have been listening to a few Video casts lately and found it a bit fiddly to queue up a list of videos to watch from the download list.

Thought it would be good to be able to "tag" downloads and/or feeds then have Podkicker present a playlist for that tag.

Also, something else that I can't seem to find. Is there a way to hide downloads that I've listened too without deleting them? Much like the "Hide Listened" on the episodes tab. I have 2-3 feeds from a number of years ago and I'd like to keep the downloaded files in case the web version vanishes.

Ext SD pathway problems

Im constantly getting the "Directory could not be found" then I try to change the download-location (Settings > Storage and backup) from internal memory to my external 64GB SD-card, on my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini smartphone.

Yes. I have already done a forum-search on the subject, but the answers havent helped so far. According to both "My Files" File manager (Samsung) and similar third-party alternatives available at Google Play, my pathway to the external SD-card is:

/Storage/ExtSdCard/

Yes, I know I have to create and include a new folder (for example "Podcasts") in that pathway. So I do that:

/Storage/ExtSdCard/Podcasts

But still no success. sad Can anyone who own a Samsung Galaxy S4, or the mini-version just type the exact pathway for me, including the name of the destination-folder?

Add downloads to top: More ideas

I like the new option to add new downloads to the top of the playlist. However, to fit my usage pattern, two extensions would be great:

1. Only make this affect autodownloads. Manual downloads are still added to the bottom. (The other way around might make sense for other people as well.)

2. Add below the file that is currently being played, not above it.

Why these options? I have a few podcasts of which I want to listen to the newest episodes right when they come out. Those are on autodownload. They should be added to the top of the playlist. All other podcasts I subscribe to I only listen to when there are no new episodes of my set of favourite podcasts. So those should be added to the bottom when I manually download them. To make continuous playback work in this scenario, of course episodes have to be added below the currently playing file, or they will just sit above it and never be played automatically.

I hope this makes sense. smile

but these latest changes are really bad, and of course  I'm just speaking for me and my point of view.  I have purchased many podcast players over the years, and BeyondPod being a previous favorite.  It lacked the ability to keep the display on, and did not have a "car mode", and that's when I started using Podkicker.

I use this app exclusively in the car, so the car mode is the most important.  Here's the problem with the current version:

* Car mode icon is ridiculously small.
* Once in car mode, then the download list goes away, and the show notes are displayed.
* Car mode controls are small, just a lot of space around them, I would rather have large buttons.

General use issues:

* Removing a feed is unnecessarily difficult, why not a long press menu option?
* Why are the icons so freaking small?  (it's been that way for a while now)

Combined Playlist/Downloads Weirdness

$

Generally I like the combined download/playlist. However, it's weird that there is no long press menu but instead a more or less useless selection function. I think the usual long press menu would be more useful with activating the selection function maybe being an option in that menu.

The worst thing about it: You can't move multiple selected episodes to top/bottom but only one at a time... :-/

[Feature Request] Download speed/bandwidth limit/cap please

Hi there smile
I would greatly appreciate it if you could add an option to limit the bandwidth used by the application when downloading podcasts. I, unfortunately, only have a DSL connection, and when Podkicker is downloading podcasts it KILLS the internet; not even web-browsing or email-checking is feasable. Seriously.

Or perhaps I should get QoS setup on my network... yeah, guess I'll do that. All the same, it would be greatly appreciated if I could limit Podkicker's download speed.

Thanks for such a great product!

(Also: this captcha key thing is pretty cool, especially as it is working flawlessly on my tablet)

We need an update!

Hi,

Podkicker Pro is possibly my most used app, so it's really important to me that it is maintained and updated.

The app still doesn't have complete backup and restore which has cost me hours of restore work, and today I had to do it again since my old phone died and I got a new one. I restored the ompl, with 60 podcasts but then I had to go through all the settings for each of them including setting the categories. It took me an hour! I also restored my email app. It took 5 seconds from a backup.

It also seems like the app sometimes looses track over a podcast and starts downloading the same episodes over and over. I then have to remove the podcast and add it again. This is one of those little annoyances I would assume could be fixed.

I'm sure others have issues they want resolved and it has been very long since we've seen an significant update. I hope we will see one soon. This is an app with a 4.5 star rating. With a little TLC it could easily get 6! smile
